A Zinc Alloy Sacrificial Anode is used in cathodic protection (CP) systems to prevent corrosion of metallic structures by acting as a sacrificial metal. When electrically connected, the zinc anode corrodes preferentially, protecting the base metal (such as steel) from corrosion.
